报告摘要:The ability of light to penetrate a tissue is a key to diagnostic (e.g., optical bioimaging) and therapeutic (e.g., light induced therapy) biophotonic applications. Use of the optical “tissue transparency window” in the near-infrared (NIR) range allows researchers to benefit from the reduced tissue scattering and autofluorescence and achieve optical imaging of deeper tissues with better resolution. Noninvasive optical bioimaging of small animals is of great use in biomedical research, permitting for the imaging guided development of light induced therapy and drug delivery. This talk will present our work on development of optical probes for imaging in NIR regions, in conjunction with light activated therapy. We have been developing multifunctional molecular and nanostructured materials for NIR imaging guided photoactivated therapy. The photoactive agents, which will be presented, embrace small organic molecules and polymers, silica-based nanoparticles, rare-ion doped nanophosphors, plasmonic nanoparticles, as well as their hybrids and combinations. The presentation will include examples of applications of the nanoparticles as optically traceable agents allowing for “see and treat” approach with photodynamic and photothermal therapies of cancer. The capability of nanoplatforms to be incorporated with other imaging modalities along with the optical one will be deliberated. The talk will conclude with a discussion on challenges in near-infrared optical bioimaging and light induced therapy using NIR-active molecular and nanoparticular agents.
Tymish Y. Ohulchanskyy教授简介:Tymish Y. Ohulchanskyy holds his B.S./M.S. (Physics) and Ph.D. (Physics; Optics and Laser Physics) degrees from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Kyiv, Ukraine). After obtaining his Ph.D. in 2001, he joined the Institute for Lasers, Photonics and Biophotonics (ILPB) at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, Buffalo, NY, USA, where he progressed from postdoc to group leader and ILPB deputy director. In 2016 Dr. Ohulchanskyy accepted position of Distinguished Professor in College of Optoelectronic Engineering of Shenzhen University, Shenzhen, Guangdong, P.R. China. Dr.Ohulchanskyy has published more than 110 articles in peer-reviewed journals (>9400 citations, h-index of 43, according to Google Scholar) and has a number of patents and patent applications. He has been a member of Material Research Society (MRS), the international Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) and American Chemical society (ACS), he also served on editorial boards of several journals. Ohulchanskyy’s current research interests lie in the photonics field and broadly involve photophysics of organic materials and organic, inorganic and hybrid nanostructures, their photonic and biophotonic applications. The main focus is on the development of photoactive molecular and nanoparticular agents for optical/multimodal bioimaging and light induced therapy.
